The truth is that there are only a few animals I dislike or hate, and I won’t mention them here. As for the rest, they’re all cool in their own way. When I saw this question, I despaired because my mind instantly went blank. Then, I went instantly to cats and dogs, because they are so familiar. Then, I realized I should watch a lot more of the nature programs I seem to pass over for more human-oriented content. Anyway, I’m sure once I click “Publish” here, I’ll feel instant regret at having forgotten about the animal I really prefer over all others, but I’ll chance it. No. What I’ll do is make a short list of animals I like a lot.

Seahorse: Elegant, ancient, unique

Octopus: Smart, amusing

Cat: A mix of sheer hubris and irresistible cuteness that is unmatched in the animal kingdom.

Chimp: Just for that fascinating “mirror” factor that makes watching them so interesting for us humans.

Hummingbird: Sweet, tiny, consistent
